F.A.U.X. — Fetish Amulets Under X marca a primeira exposição individual de

artista Ivan Hunga Garcia fora do universo performativo da moda, onde este tem

vindo a afirmar uma prática profundamente enraizada na investigação de

materiais, na expressão identitária e na desconstrução dos limites entre arte,

design e política do corpo. A exposição apresenta onze objetos em escala humana

que propõem uma sequência narrativa onde se cruzam temas como voyeurismo e

BDSM.

No centro deste projeto está o Scoby (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria and

Yeast), uma membrana biológica resultante da produção de kombucha, que Garcia

cultiva autonomamente e aplica como alternativa ao cabedal e a outros materiais

sintéticos usados no vestuário fetish.

Neste projeto, Garcia desvirtualiza os contextos tradicionais de desfile e

galeria, propondo um novo léxico expositivo onde o corpo do público é

convocado a posicionar-se — ética, estética e fisicamente — perante os

objetos. Estes não apenas representam intenções, mas solicitam ação. F.A.U.X.

é, por fim, um manifesto contra a neutralidade estética e a esterilidade das

formas. É um apelo à experiência — sensorial, emocional, psíquica. É um

território onde a arte se pode tocar.

F.A.U.X. — Fetish Amulets Under X marks artist Ivan Hunga Garcia’s

first solo exhibition outside the performative world of fashion,

where they have been establishing a practice deeply rooted in

material research, identity expression, and the deconstruction of

boundaries between art, design, and the politics of the body. The

exhibition features eleven life-sized objects that propose a

narrative sequence interweaving themes such as voyeurism and BDSM.

At the heart of the project is Scoby (Symbiotic Culture of Bacteria

and Yeast), a biological membrane produced through kombucha

fermentation, which the artist cultivates themself and applies as an

alternative to leather and other synthetic materials commonly used in

fetish wear.

In this project, Garcia breaks away from traditional runway and

gallery contexts, proposing a new exhibitionary lexicon where the

audience’s body is called to take a stance—ethically, aesthetically,

and physically—in relation to the objects. These do not merely

represent intentions; they demand action. F.A.U.X. is, ultimately, a

manifesto against aesthetic neutrality and the sterility of form. It

is a call to experience—sensory, emotional, and psychic. A territory

where art can be touched.
