Upcoming Images is developed from a reflection on the de-functionalization, revelation and incompleteness of the picture, that in this work appears as intangible and in potency.

Quoting the sign of negative in contemporary mirages - the sight of desire that does not constitute nor ends - this work seeks to reflect on issues related to trans-national migration and tourism flows, as well as an anesthesia of the stare caused by its excess. Upcoming Images challenges the latent image dimension, based on post-cards from North Africa and the Middle East, and European tourist films from the 50’s/70’s, that are presented here in the photo developing and film editing process, citing a self-reflexive impulse linked to the manifestation and imagery fixation. Thus, there is a de-functionalization of the images drive - as well as a sterility of the specific character of mupi, its exhibit stand - which arise here between the exposure and the deletion, presenting themselves inconclusive, deferred and unattainable. - S.C.B.
