Light Keepers
When we think in everyday objects, we are usually referred to their function and to the places where we can usually find them. We believe in what we think we know about them, because we believe in universal concepts that we consider to be indubitable. It will be the common sense that tells us what defines everyday things. Thus, the notions associated with each object are also conditioned by their use, but at same time, by the cultural imaginary, individual or collective.
In the practical dimension, these differences are not taken into account, which for the generality of the artists gives an interest, the creation of a cartography of the real or a game with the signs of appearances. For some artists, the appearance of things in themselves, can inaugurate a sensitive curiosity that defines how they give to re-see to others the things of the world,
In this exhibition by Isaque Pinheiro at the Mupi Gallery, in the MUPI (Urban Furniture for Information) there is a re-presentation of these supports and advertising devices. They are drawn from their utility, the presentation of illuminated two-dimensional images, and they reveal themselves as another type of device. They are now sculptural volumes, they are Light Keepers.
