The Monstra returns to visit us this October, in a double dose. For this, which is the first session, we have the feature film, which has already been awarded a lot, made in a co-production between Romania and Poland. Among the 35 awards, the Crystal for Best Feature Film in Annecy stands out.

The animated documentary feature-length Crulic - The Path to Beyond tells the story of the life of Crulic, this animated feature-length documentary tells the life story of Crulic, a 33-year-old Romanian, who died in a Polish prison while on a hunger strike. The acclaimed Romanian actor, Vlad Ivanov, narrates Crulic’s ironic voice over from beyond the grave. A strong visual style, the result of beautiful hand drawn, collage, stop-motion and cut-out techniques, blend to create a striking, surprisingly integrated and memorable film. The movie got more than 35 international prizes, among which the Cristal for Best Feature Film Award in Annecy.
Anca Damian studied at the Academy of Theatre and Film Arts where she obtained a diploma in Cinematography and a Doctor’s degree in Arts, Cinema and Media. After graduating, she worked as a director, screenwriter and producer for several documentaries on art related topics, and as director of photography for two feature films, and many other documentaries and shorts. In 2008, she made her first feature film as a director, screenwriter and co-producer, “Crossing Dates”. In 2012, her second feature as Director, screenwriter and producer, “Crulic – The Path to Beyond”, came to international attention. In 2015, her second animated feature “The Magic Mountain” continued to establish Anca Damian’s visual innovation style combined with strong topics. She was also the first to receive the Audentia Award in 2016 offered by Eurimages, celebrating women film-makers. Her latest short animated feature “The Call” travelled the world in over 50 international festivals and won 9 international prizes. In 2019 she premiered Marona’s Fantastic Tale in Annecy, followed by a long festival selection and a lot of accolades.
