The process of creating " A Metamorfose do Corpo (The Metamorphosis of the Body)" suffered changes until it became what is now presented at Mupi Gallery. It started initially with an idea for a solo performance, as if it were a self-portrait that was constructed and worked live.

In that initial idea, my body was covered with successive layers of paint of various colours, like different layers of a narrative. Each colour would correspond to a mask or a camouflage, layers that when mixed together would reach a breaking point.

I explored this idea for 2 years until I turned it into a sketch for a photo shoot, now using someone else's body.

Clay was used, not to banish or veil a body, but to highlight its stress lines, shapes and imperfections.

To mould perhaps, its expression, so that in the end something distinctive might emerge.

Celine Marie lives and works in Porto.

Photographer with a background focused on experimental theatre and performance.

Her work seeks to explore the various tense relationships present in the representation of the human body. She is resident photographer at the performance of the show hall of Maus Hábitos - Cultural Intervention Space Maus Hábitos - Espaço de intervenção Cultural and of the project Stereoboy. She is responsible for Espaço BIRRA.
